  • Stand tall oh mighty oak, for all the world to see,
your strength and undying beauty forever amazes me.
Though storm clouds hover above you,
    your branches span the sky,
in search of the radiant sunlight you
    count on to survive.
When the winds are high and restless and
you lose a limb or two,
it only makes you stronger, we
could learn so much from you.
Though generations have come and gone
    and brought about such change,
quietly you’ve watched them all yet still
    remained the same.
I only pray God give to me the strength he’s
    given you,
to face each day with hope, whether
    skies are black or blue,
Life on earth is truly a gift
    every moment we must treasure,
it’s the simple things we take for granted
    that become our ultimate pleasures.

  • She never got to dance,
Or go to her own Prom.
    She never got the chance,
To forget where she came from.
    She never got to kiss,
    A man she idolized.
    She never felt love’s bliss,
    ‘Cause she was paralyzed.
    She never got to talk,
    About love with a smile.
    She never got to walk,
    Down a Church’s Aisle.
    She never got to say,
    Those precious words “I Do”.
But she was far and away,
The strongest girl I ever knew.
    She couldn’t brush her hair,
Or put make up on her face.
    She couldn’t hold you dear,
Or give you a warm embrace.
    She couldn’t clasp her hands,
As if in the form of prayer.
    She couldn’t understand,
Why she was in a wheelchair.
    She never showed her fears,
Or let you hear her cries.
    She never showed the tears,
That fell down from her eyes.
    She never looked for pity,
    Or sympathy from you.
    That’s why she’ll always be,
The strongest girl I ever knew.

  • I’m writing this to you
    Telling you we’re through
    I can’t take you anymore
Don’t know what I liked you for
All you did was wear me out
Now I know what you’re all about
You came to me with promise and joy
Now look at all the things you destroy
Families, lives, bank accounts you see
You ruined it all with one little tease
Look at the way you make me feel
Then you take it all and want me to steal
Why can’t you just go and hide
Somewhere far away where I’ll never find
    Everyone at home doesn’t understand
How you rip me apart, then lend me a hand
I keep coming back thinking inside
Maybe this time I’ll make you my bride
Then I sit and wonder why
Why do you really want me to die
Thousands and thousands come to you
Hoping and praying you’ll help them through
Then they fall for your lending hand
Only to realize you’re nothing but a scam
You promised me heaven and sent me to hell
You ruined my life and then wished me well
Watch me now as I go on my way
I’m washing myself of all of your pain
So you and your power can just leave me be
I’m taking my life and setting it free

  • This is a daily reminder
    To relax
To not get angry over small things
    To stay calm
    This is a daily reminder
    To be yourself
To not care what people think
To know you can be anything
    This is a daily reminder
    To love yourself
    To not hurt yourself
    To not work yourself up
    This is a daily reminder
    That you are beautiful
    That you are amazing
    That you will succeed
    This is a daily reminder
    To always have hope
    To have faith
To know everything will be okay
    This is a daily reminder
That you have made it so far already
    That you haven’t given up
That whatever you’re doing is right
And that you are going to be amazing
    Don’t give up
    Keep holding on and believing

  • As we sit together around this table,
We want to say thank you for allowing us
To be together in a world where so many families
Do not have this opportunity to do so.
Give us pause as we celebrate, to count our blessings
For without your blessing, this day would not be counted.
For we have so many thanks to say to you
As we prepare to enjoy the food you have
So bountifully allowed us to share,
And to extend our blessings with one another yet another day.
Lord, it is not that we do not appreciate
Your blessings as each day unfolds
It is only that we do not thank you
As often as each day brings with it your blessings.
Please forgive us for not counting you
As our true friend, our true light
As often as we should, Oh Lord,
For without you, we are lost.
We thank you for showing us our failures
So that we may see more opportunities,
To experience the joy of overcoming obstacles in life
As you daily guide us through each challenge.
And, Oh Lord, thank you for saving us
For without you, we would suffer forever.
It is only through your graces, Oh Lord,
That we sit here today united within our home.

  • I am at my best with the wind in my face,
When overcoming the challenge, with pace.
The pace that requires more effort, more strength.
But once gained momentum, endures with great length.
It’s easy to sit back, placid and calm
Comfort is only a relative balm.
It seems an advantage, better than strife
But is dulled by stagnation, stifling life.
    Progress needs movement, energy, drive,
No chance for improvement if you do not strive.
Nothing’s for nothing: cause and effect.
That which you work for, you’ve more chance to get.
So give me the wind, let it blow in my face,
The more I confront, the more strength I’ll embrace.
Steps are not mounted, nor challenge o’ercome.
Without certain courage or effort be done.

  • I like the way I feel when I
    Am in your company.
I like your joyful quiet smile
That lets me talk more easily.
    I like your understanding look
    The kindness in your eyes
Your sense of happiness and care,
    That calms my butterflies.
I trust you recognise the Good,
    Of which you’re really made.
And give thanks for the blessings,
Which flow through you each day.

  • If you think you are beaten, you are;
If you think you dare not, you don’t!
If you’d like to win, but you think you can’t,
    It’s almost certain you won’t.
    If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost;
For out in the world we find
    Success begins with a fellow’s will;
It’s all in the state of mind!
    If you think you’re outclassed, you are;
You’ve got to think high to rise.
You’ve got to be sure of yourself
Before you’ll ever win the prize.
    Life’s battles don’t always go
    To the stronger or faster man;
But sooner or later the man who wins
Is the person who thinks he can!

  • Always remember to forget
The things that made you sad
    But never forget to remember
The things that made you glad.
    Always remember to forget
    The friends that proved untrue.
    But don’t forget to remember
Those that have stuck by you.
    Always remember to forget
The troubles that have passed away.
    But never forget to remember
The blessings that come each day.

  • When troubles come your soul to try,
You love the friend who just stands by.
Perhaps there’s nothing she can do,
The thing is strictly up to you.
For there are troubles all your own,
And paths the soul must tread alone.
Times when love can’t smooth the road,
Nor friendship lift the heavy load.
But just to feel you have a friend,
Who will stand by until the end.
    Whose sympathy through all endures,
Whose warm handclasp is always yours.
It helps somehow to pull you through,
Although there’s nothing she can do.
And so with fervent heart we cry,
God Bless the friend who just stands by.
