  • It’s the way you say I love you and the way you hold my hand
    There’s just so much about you I completely understand
    It’s the twinkle in your eye that I only see when you look at me
    It’s the warmness of your hands it sends a shock straight to my feet

  • On Valentine’s Day we think of those
    Who make our lives worthwhile,
    Those gracious, friendly people who
    We think of with a smile.

    I am fortunate to know you,
    That’s why I want to say,
    To a rare and special person:
    Happy Valentine’s Day!

  • My days are filled with yearning;
    My nights are full of dreams.
    I’m always thinking of you;
    I’m in a trance, it seems.

    You’re all I ever wanted;
    I wish you could be mine;
    And so I have to ask you:
    Will you be my Valentine?

  • If you won’t be my Valentine
    I’ll scream, I’ll yell, I’ll bite.
    I’ll cry aloud, I’ll start to whine
    If you won’t be my Valentine.
    I’ll frown and fret, I’ll mope and pine, and
    It will serve you right —
    If you won’t be my Valentine
    I’ll scream, I’ll Yell, I’ll Bite!

  • A single flow’r he sent me, since we met,
    All tenderly his messenger he chose;
    Deep-hearted pure, with scented dew still wet – –
    One perfect rose.

    I know the language of the floweret.
    “My fragile leaves,” it said, “his heart enclose.”
    Love long has taken for his amulet
    One perfect rose.

    Why is it no one ever sent yet
    One perfect limousine, do you suppose?
    Ah no, it’s always just my luck to get
    One perfect rose.

  • You came in a dream, yesterday

    —The first day we met

    you showed me your dark workroom

    off the kitchen, your books, your notebooks.

    Reading our last, knowing-last letters

    —the years of our friendship

    reading our poems to each other,

    I would start breathing again.

    Yesterday, in the afternoon,

    more than a year since you died,

    some words came into the air.

    I looked away a second,

    and they were gone,

    six lines, just passing through.

  • I love you all through February,
    Not just on Valentine’s Day;
    I cherish you when flowers of spring
    Appear in the midst of May.

    I adore you in the summer,
    When the air is filled with heat;
    Without you in my life each day,
    I wouldn’t be complete.

    I treasure you in fall,
    When leaves are turning gold;
    I loved you when you were younger;
    I’ll love you when you’re old.

    I prize you in the winter,
    When colder days are here;
    I love you, love you all the time,
    Every minute of the year.

    So I’ll give to you this Valentine,
    But I want to let you know,
    It’s not just today, but always,
    That I will love you so.
